RMHC Crowns 14th Annual Charity Golf Champions 24May10

RMHC President Kenneth Yang officially starts the 14th RMHC Charity Golf Tournament with the ceremonial tee-off.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), the charity of choice of McDonald’s, proudly announce the winners of the 14th Annual RMHC Charity Golf Tournament, held last May 17, 2010 at the Sta. Elena Golf & Country Club in Cabuyao, Laguna. This yearly charity event is for the benefit of the Bright Minds Read (BMR) program, RMHC’s banner initiative in partnership with the Department of Education that aims to teach beginning reading to grade 1 public school students all over the country.

 

Exciting prizes were up for grabs for the 50 teams that joined the tournament – a Toyota Camry, an Autohub Golf Cart, P100,000 worth of car insurance care of NCIA, a Mizuno Golf Set and a trip for 2 to Macau or Hong Kong. With these prizes at stake, the teams, composed of three players each, brought their game on the green to bring home the gold and be crowned champion in their respective divisions.

 

After a long day of competition, Team Corps Phils, comprised of Melvin Mendoza, Abet dela Cruz and Arman Perez emerged as the overall champion. Other division champions include: Team Chicken Mcdo (Bing Bachoco, Junie Pama & Leo Jabeguero) for Group C, Team Dunn Edwards (Jack So, Adones Baluyot & Sanny Santiago for Group B and finally, Team Big Mac (Gene Go, Kenneth Yang, Karen Yang) for Group A. A silent auction was also held for a one-of-a-kind Lucerne Watch, Mr. JP Reyes of Gonzalo Puyat & Sons placed the highest bid at P51,000. Doing the honors of awarding the winners were RMHC boardmember Zonito Torevillas, RMHC Treasurer Bing Bachoco and McDonald's President Kenneth Yang.

 

In closing, Mr. Yang said, “On behalf of the thousands of kids you have helped to learn how to read, thank you for your continued and wholehearted support. We look forward to see everyone back on the green next year for the tournament’s special 15th year. Let us make it all our mission to have zero non-readers in the country.”
