Pursuant to National Coordinating and Monitoring Board (NCMB) Resolution No. 3-2009, Series of 2009, the following shall serve as guidelines in the availment of the 20% senior citizen discount from restaurants and food establishments:
a) The 20% senior citizen discount shall be for the “exclusive use and enjoyment” of the senior citizen and shall mean “for the senior citizen’s personal consumption” only.
b) To avail of the discount, the senior citizen must present a valid senior citizen ID.
c) The 20% discount shall not apply to “Happy Meals” which are primarily prepared and marketed for children.
d) The 20% discount shall not apply to birthday parties and bulk orders.
e) The 20% discount shall apply to food purchases paid via credit card where such credit card facility is available.
f) The full 20% discount shall be applied to the actual total price of all dine-in food purchases provided it is purchased for the exclusive consumption of the senior citizen at the time of purchase.
g) The 20% discount applies to the Most Expensive Meal Combination (MEMC) for take-out/take home, drive-thru and delivery orders.
h) When a senior citizen is ordering/dining in a group, the following formula shall be applied:
Total Billing Amount = Individual Consumption X 20% of a Senior Citizen w/ ID
No. of Customers
The 20% discount applies to the resulting portion of the total bill.
