Sporting black McHappy Day shirts, more than 1,000 participants joined the 3K, 5K and 10K run. Celebrities Ramon Bautista, Angel Locsin, Phoemela Baranda and Charice Pempengco, who recorded and performed the official McHappy Day song "Bata, Bata", graced the event as well.

The 1st McDonald’s Fun Run was in cooperation with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Bright Minds Read (BMR), a beginning-reading program for public school students. BMR aims to make every child a reader by 2012. As of late, 2,200 schools are under the BMR program and have helped thousands of children read better.

Proceeds from the Fun Run of over P300,000 will be used for RMHC’s Bright Minds Read program.
