The youngest of 10 semi-finalists, 19-year old Chenee Capuyan of McDonald’s Davao Damosa emerged as champion during the Grand Finals of the 3rd season of Voice of McDonald’s Philippines last August 6, 2009 at the Star Theater.
The Davao native bested 9 other finalists from all over the country when she sang Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and Whitney Houston/ Mariah Carey hit “When You Believe”. Other winners are 1st runner-up Ana Feona Moreno of McDonald’s SM Bacolod and 2nd runner-up Radjie Zaragoza of McDonald’s Balayan and.
The night was a star-studded event hosted by Ryan Agoncillo and judged by Musical Director Gerard Salonga, Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, and Director Audie Gemora. Other special guests were dancer Regine Tolentino, Ballroom Queen Edna Ledesma, and international singer Charice Pempengco.
The singing contest is a global initiative that seeks to discover new talents and foster friendly competition. Voice of McDonald’s Philippines happens every 2 years and is open to all crew and restaurant managers. It started in 2003, and came close to bagging the World Championship title when last season’s winner, Mary Margaret Yu, placed 2nd in the World Voice of McDonald’s Championship held in Florida.
