BACOLOD CITY, SEPTEMBER 15 2009 – McDonald’s charity arm, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and its flagship program Bright Minds Read (BMR) recently turned over BMR toolkits to the City of Bacolod as part of their national initiative to teach beginning reading to Filipino children. Each BMR toolkit consists of 33 storybooks, a teacher’s lesson plan and student worksheets - teaching not only beginning reading but comprehension and critical thinking skills as well, in an easy and fun manner. BMR was launched in partnership with the Department of Education in 2002 and is currently in 2,500 public schools in 16 regions nationwide including ARMM. This 2009, RMHC celebrated another milestone with its first batch of BMR grade school graduates.
